This Winter. Travel Local. Big Bear Lake.

We all have big ideas about faraway places we’d love to go explore, but there is so much beauty here locally. Come visit Big Bear Lake for a truly beautiful winter getaway. Close to home, yet light years from the grind.

Focus on family. Creating lasting memories for your family is what we are all about. Big Bear Lake is a family friendly vacation destination. We encourage families to try new outdoor adventures or build on existing skills while skiing, hiking, fishing or just exploring in Big Bear.

Hit the slopes! What better way to get outdoors, spend time with family and have a great winter workout? Ski and snowboard rentals, lessons and lift tickets are available at Big Bear Mountain Resort. For 2018/2019 lift and lodging packages, visit

Day or night! Some of the best snow-inspired fun on the mountain is snow tubing. Choose your inner tubes and ride the ‘magic carpet’ to the top of the hill. Hear the sounds of belly laughter bouncing across the snow as the kids race each other down the slopes. Snow tubing areas are open for night tubing on Fri. and Sat. and during holiday periods.

Go ride a bike. Yep...even in the snow. Bear Valley Bikes has year-round rentals. Road bike and mountain bike rentals are available most of the year and fat tire bike rentals are there all winter for snow-covered trail rides.

Take a snowy hike. Beautiful trails with varying elevation gains offer you the choice of a peaceful walk through the woods, or a more strenuous trek up one of the steeper “booty buster” trails. Insider Tip: During winter, the North Shore trails get more sun and have less snow.

For healthy eats while you’re on the mountain, check out delicious menu options, like the Kraken Bowl or a fresh, fruity drink at Local Tropicali. For crispy salads, hearty sandwiches and smoothies check out Amangela’s Sandwich and Bagel House. For a full menu of savory Indian food offering several vegetarian options and a couple of Paleo-friendly items try The Himalayan.

Craft brews and karaoke are both on tap at Murray’s Saloon and Eatery. Touted as a ‘five-star dive bar’, Murray’s serves up karaoke every night along with really good cheap eats. On weekends, live music can be found at the Oakside Restaurant and Nottinghams Tavern. Check the schedule for live concerts at The Cave, where all ages are welcome.
