Countin' Carp Tournament
The Countin' Carp Tournament is back for May 1st - August 31st, 2026!
Welcome to Big Bear Municipal Water District's NEW Countin' Carp Tournament! Take part in the reaping that helps control Big Bear Lake's invasive carp population.
This new carp reaping event now spans the summer season, giving anglers more opportunities to fish. Join the fun that helps keep our lake happy and healthy!
Event Date, Time & Place
May 1st - August 31st, 2026
Anglers will bring their catch to BBMWD at 40524 Lakeview Dr to be counted any day of the week
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Weekends and Holidays 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
There is no registration, please bring your carp to BBMWD to give your name and start your season tally.
Countin' Carp Raffle
Monthly Raffle
Carp hunters will receive one (1) raffle ticket PER DAY when they bring carp to be counted. Hunters may bring as many carp as they wish to be tallied for their season count, but only one raffle ticket will be given for that day.
BBMWD will pull monthly winners in the Raffle for Adult and Youth Divisions.
Prizes include:
- $150 Gift Card OR
- Cash Prize
Raffle Day is the first business day following the end of a month.

Rules & Regulations
- The Countin' Carp tournament will be May 1st, 2026 - through August 31st, 2026.
- All entrants must abide by California Dept. of Fish & Wildlife laws and regulations.
- Fish will only be disposed in the black bin behind the main Big Bear Municipal Water District office (Located at 40524 Lakeview Dr.) after being counted.
- Fish must be counted by a District Employee to be eligible.
- Fish can be counted by a District Employee 7 days a week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Weekends and Holidays 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
- Fish must be counted by a District Employee on the same day it was caught.
- Fish are counted per individual hunter, No sharing of fish. Violators will be disqualified.
- Hunters will receive one raffle ticket PER DAY, not per fish. Except on BONUS WEEKENDS.
- BBMWD will pull monthly winner by raffle only at the first Board Meeting of the month.
- Entrants may use a bow and arrow by boat or on shore, or a rod and reel.
- District employees and family are not eligible to participate.
- Charter businesses are not eligible to participate.
- No shooting within 50 feet of another competing hunter.
- Be courteous to other hunters.
- No littering, including fish. Violators will be disqualified.
- No shooting from commercial docks or marinas.
- Any disputes will be decided by the Tournament Director and are final.
- Any aggressive conflicts will result in all involved being disqualified.
- All rules will be strictly enforced, violators will be disqualified.
