Skiing & Snowboarding
Southern California's best skiing and snowboarding conditions are at Big Bear.
Snow was created for one reason and one reason alone, which of course is to have lots of fun! Two of the top winter activities in Big Bear are skiing and snowboarding. Big Bear Mountain Resorts have everything you need to fulfill your fun in the snow this winter; whether it's your first time getting on skis or a snowboard, or if you are an advanced downhill expert or skilled jibber. Here is a look at what you could expect from a winter vacation close to home.
Big Bear Mountain Resorts, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, offer two distinct mountains to suit your style of recreation so it's easy to see why we are Southern California's favorite winter resort.
Big Bear Mountain Resorts
Whether you spend the day, weekend, or week you will find tremendous value by visiting one or both of Big Bear Mountain Resorts. What you really get is two mountains in one – at a single rate. One interchangeable lift ticket is valid at both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Together, the two resorts offer more than 436 developed acres, 26 lifts, four high-speed chairs, 1,800 vertical feet, and more than 200 park features packed with thrilling jumps, rails and funboxes. A free ground shuttle links the two resorts.
At Big Bear Mountain Resorts, consistent quality conditions are the result of advanced snowmaking technology at work and a reliable water supply. Big Bear features two of the largest snowmaking systems in the world. Of course, Mother Nature comes through with natural snow, creating perfect powder days for excellent skiing and riding.
Skiers, snowboarders and families choose Snow Summit for a traditional alpine experience. There’s plenty of room to roam from the popular face of the mountain to peaceful, isolated trails with ideal ski conditions away from the pack. Remember the earlier you arrive in the morning, the more runs you’ll enjoy. Arrive early enough, and you may find the east side of the mountain all to yourself. On the other side of the resort is Snow Summit’s Family Park carved with easy-does-it jumps, bumps and rollers.
Typically, snowboarders flock to Bear Mountain. Whether you’re just learning to ride, or moving to the intermediate shred status, or brining your professional style to the slopes, Bear has something for you. Bear is an automatic attraction for avid skiers too because of its vertical terrain. The Park offers upwards of 120 beginner to advanced jibs including a huge variety of rails, boxes and walls. It has over 100 snow features of all shapes and sizes, and Southern California’s only Superpipe.
If you’re a novice skier or snowboarder, Big Bear offers two of the largest beginner areas in Southern California along with top instructors that guarantee you’ll be linking turns down the mountain by the end of the day. So what are you waiting for? Grab your skis or snowboard and head up to Big Bear and enjoy real snow that’s real close to home.
