Wings Over Big Bear
The Big Bear community is coming together to remember and celebrate Jackie the bald eagle and the remarkable legacy she leaves behind.
This Special Memorial Honoring Jackie is made possible through the collaborative efforts of:
Visit Big Bear, Care for Big Bear, Friends of Big Bear Valley, the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, Big Bear Alpine Zoo, the Southern California Mountains Foundation, the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce, the County of San Bernardino, the Big Bear Arts Council, the San Bernardino National Forest, Big Bear Mountain Resort and many other community organizations.
Memorial event is free; please RSVP so we can accommodate your group.

Commemoration Ceremony
Please join us as we remember Jackie - our resident bald eagle - and honor our wildlife that makes Big Bear a truly special place. Our local Mountaintop Strings orchestra will open the venue at 10 AM with Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation will open the commemoration ceremony at 10:30 AM.
Stay for esteemed speakers including Friends of the Big Bear Valley, State Representatives, and Lynn Carpenter from Visit California.

Starting Sunday, October 4, 2026 - everyone is welcome to join us as we explore the valley with family and friends! Enjoy stunning tours, activities, and more to learn about Big Bear's wildlife and the local efforts that help conserve our natural habitats. Details to come!

Sunday, October 4th - Wildlife Education Day | Guided Birdwatching Walk Embark on a FREE guided birdwatching walk led by a Discovery Center naturalist where you'll learn about and possibly see the native and migratory bird species that Big Bear Lake attracts. What to bring: binoculars if you have them, water and be prepared to walk. Restore the Forest: Native Seed Collection 10 AM - 12 PM Join the Southern California Mountains Foundation and help restore the San Bernardino National Forest—one seed at a time! During this volunteer event, participants will help collect native seed that can be used in future restoration projects throughout the forest. This work helps to protect watersheds and wildlife habitat, reduce erosion and soil compaction, and keep our public lands healthy for the future. No experience needed and all ages are welcome. Meet at the Big Bear Discovery Center - 40971 North Shore Dr. RSVP is required and please dress appropriately for outdoor field conditions. Trail Conservation Day 10 AM - 1:30 PM Join us at Grays Peak Trailhead - for an introduction into trail work and conservation in the Big Bear Area. Hear a talk at the top of the each hour. |
