Learn about Woodpeckers

Join Chirp Nature Center on Saturday, June 19 at 10:00 AM PST for a free bird-focused talk. This 60-minute presentation will highlight Woodpeckers. There are over 236 species of woodpeckers in the world. The average Woodpecker makes 12,000 knocks on a tree trunk per day. Acorn Woodpeckers store up to 50,000 acorns in a single tree in autumn. Some may say these birds are crazy, others may call them wacky, but we call them Woodpeckers! You won’t want to miss this talk, as our birding specialist and guest speaker shares more fascinating facts about these Wacky Woodpeckers.

Attract Woodpeckers to your backyard with a delicious cylinder feast or some tasty suet. As it turns out, suet will not only attract woodpeckers but a variety of feathered friends. Read this article to learn more. The event will be streamed live via Facebook and Youtube. Check back closer to the event for links to stream live for free or sign up for Chirp Newsletters and we will send the links directly to your inbox.

After the virtual Bird Talk, participants will have an opportunity to demonstrate what they learned and win prizes by taking the Bird Talk Quiz. Everyone who participates will get a free gift mailed to them, and a lucky random winner will receive a wild-bird-themed grand prize.
