Discovering A Form Of Expression: Trey Lanza

A Big Bear Local & High Altitude Skateboarder, Trey Lanza, paves the path forward with new found purpose and a discovery of the beauty that is expression.
Being born and raised in Big Bear has given me many opportunities in my young career as a skateboarder. The high altitude trained my lungs to push harder and faster. Skateboarding is not just a sport; it has given me a sense of drive. Creating my own stunts permits me to express myself as an artist and gives me relief from the anxiety and frustration that is so prevalent in my generation.
I discovered skateboarding at 12 years-old when my friends pushed me to give the sport a try. A day so monumental for me because I had found my purpose. I never understood how much value Big Bear brought to my life until Skateboarding Association and Visit Big Bear approached me in 2025. Snowboarding has been valuable in training me on balance and control not only for my body, but for my mind, and this is a crucial step in Skateboarding.
As you know, Big Bear is the home of Snowboarding for Southern California, with legends in the X Games to even the Olympics. Now, at 15 years-old, I am passionate about spreading Big Bear's name to not only California, but on a global scale for high altitude training in skateboarding.
It's an honor to bring this sport into my hometown and to be an ambassador for Visit Big Bear.
