Chirp for Change

Chirp Nature Center is advocating for a cleaner, greener world in more ways than one!
Chirp Nature Center is Big Bear's local birding authority. Guests can learn about the valley's native and migrating birds from season to season, join guided bird watching tours, and shop the best birding supplies.
Plastic Free Birding in Big Bear
Chirp sells a multitude of feeders, bird houses, and other birding supplies to encourage and support a healthy bird population in the valley. But it's important to note, not all birding supplies are equal.
While some plastic products are available for purchase, Chirp encourages customers to shy away from the polycarbonate options and opt for the glass, metal, and recycled plastic feeders and houses.
Glass and Metal goods last longer and weather the Big Bear seasons far better than the plastic products, meaning they need to be replaced less often. While the Recycled Plastic options are still plastic, they are manufactured to be much more durable than the thinner polycarbonate products.
Clean & Green Reusable Containers
Chirp is proud to be offering organic household items. Shoppers can browse goods like toothpaste, laundry detergent, shampoo and conditioner, and other items all with a unique twist - there are no disposable containers!
Guests are encouraged to bring their own container to fill with their chosen product, eliminating the need for a new bottle each purchase. Reusable containers are also available to purchase in store.
Adding to the green theme, many products are camping friendly, meaning the ingredients are plant-based and environmentally safe. Explore the toothpaste tablets, body washes, shampoo and conditioner bars and other personal hygiene products.
Each product sold displays the manufacturer name so you can get to know each company and how they're tackling their sustainability mission.
