Our Support

Our Landscape Initiative focuses on clearing trash from the shoreline, trails, parks and other recreation areas. Costs offset by donations include:

• Dumpster placement/service fees
• Portable restrooms placement/service
• Dump fees
• Labor costs
• Supplies: trash bags, gloves, sanitizer, water, etc.

The Big Bear Valley Green Business Program is a community-wide sustainability program inviting all businesses to evaluate operations to conserve on water, energy, and waste.

This program is a partnership between Care for Big Bear who offers in-market benefits, and the California Green Business Network who administers the standards and statewide recognition for partner businesses.

Donations help cover Care for Big Bear's annual membership costs with the CA Green Business Network.

Care for Big Bear launched the Dark Sky Initiative in 2022 to bring awareness to Big Bear locals and visitors about the effects of light pollution and drive conservation of our dark skies. The Initiative includes developing astrotourism programming as a mode for conservation messaging and education. Costs offset by donations include:

• brochure and other collateral print and distribution
• marketing and producing astrotourism events like Dark Sky Week, SkyFest Big Bear and One Sky Week

Care for Big Bear's largest financial contributor is Visit Big Bear with a yearly contribution budgeted across all CFBB programs.

Individual donations help sustain Care for Big Bear's programs through the Landscape Initiative, the Big Bear Valley Green Business Program and the Dark Sky Initiative.

Care for Big Bear is honored to be a beneficiary in the Every Stay Gives Back program, a special partnership between Visit Big Bear and Kind Traveler. This lodging program puts real dollars from guest stays into important programs in our community.

Every dollar donated to Care for Big Bear through the Every Stay Gives Back program supports our Landscape Initiative that focuses on clearing trash from the shoreline, trails, parks and other recreation areas. Costs off-set by donations include dump fees, labor costs, supplies including trash bags, gloves, sanitizer and other equipment.
