Fall Foliage Provides Natural Accent for 36 Th Annual Hearth and Home Tour
This fall, the public has an opportunity to see four distinct Big Bear homes in lavish fall décor and a hint of the holidays at the 36th Annual Soroptimists International of Big Bear Valley Hearth and Home Tour (Hearth and Home Tour).
This marks the first time in 36 years that the annual home tour takes place in autumn. On October 3, 2015 the public gets an opportunity to revel in Big Bear’s fall foliage and delight in extraordinary homes decorated with inspiration from the colors, sights, sounds and aromas of the autumn season.
“Fall is absolutely the most spectacular time of year in Big Bear,” said Dawn Marschinke, Committee Chair for the Hearth and Home Tour. “The fall colors that surround these homes provide a natural accent, which is why we chose to move our home tour to October. Our guests will not only get to experience remarkable homes, but they will get a true sense of the fall season in Big Bear.”
Big Bear Lake is recognized as one of the few places in Southern California where one can see a spectacular display of fall foliage. Evening temperatures dip into the 30’s and 40’s, which provide perfect conditions for leaves to turn. From October to November, Mother Nature transforms Big Bear into a sea of gold, crimson, amber and yellow.
The 36th Annual Hearth and Home Tour features four distinct homes, each with a different theme that includes “Fall Harvest,” “Thanksgiving,” “Old-Fashioned Holiday,” and “Christmas.” Each home has its own unique homespun charm, and the public is invited to stroll through these professionally decorated homes for a one-of-a-kind experience. Hosts will guide guests through the homes pointing out interesting facts and features of the homes.
For hospitality, The Soroptimists International of Big Bear Valley plan to bring their “A” game by serving guests a delightful array of homemade breads such as pumpkin, zucchini, apple spice and banana along with hot apple cider and coffee. Also, the hosts will offer decorating tips for the fall and holiday seasons.
“Experience homes for the holidays like never before. Experience it Big Bear style!” added Marschinke.
The 36th Annual Hearth and Home Tour is Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ticket books are $25 each and include a tour of each home. Ticket books can be purchased at Big Bear Visitors Center, Little Green House, Interiors, Union Bank, Village Sweet Shop and Fox Farm Antiques.
