Still Summering In Big Bear
Posted: 08/15/16 | By Justin
Much can be said about one of Southern California’s favorite vacation destinations: Big Bear Lake.
With four seasons of fun, events and plenty of activities to enjoy, you will always have the time of your life! Before summer takes a bow to fall, there are still plenty of events in Big Bear Lake to enjoy in August and Labor Day Weekend:
Renaissance Faire in Big Bear CA
15th Annual Big Bear Renaissance Faire
August 20th to 21st, 2016 is the final weekend of the 15th Annual Renaissance Faire. Knights, wenches, pirates and bags of loot all come together on the north shore of Big Bear Lake located at 39115 Rim of the World Drive in the outskirts of Fawnskin, a small city, hidden beside the mountainous hills at Pedersen Sawmill. The main event – one might dare say – is the jousting; where riders emblazoned with armor and crests shining in the light, duel for the Queen’s hand and title of Warrior. Besides the combat, there is merriment! There are five stages of entertainment including three general stages, a children’s stage, and a NC-17 stage. Stationed in the area, will be a deluxe food and beverage court that serves everything from plump turkey legs to scrumptious chowder served in a bread bowl. The Bear Bones & Dragon Ale Stand serves Dragon’s Blood (red wine) and Unicorn’s Breath (white wine). Also on hand is a full array of ales and meads including Dragon’s Breath, a popular blend of wheat beer and pomegranate mead. Guests should also expect to see full-costumed vendors and crafters hawking everything from feathered hats to leather goods, medieval swords and fine crafted jewelry. If you visit and like what you see, please be sure to take a photo and tag @visitbigbear on Instagram so all other travelers can enjoy your findings!
