The Big Bear Thanksgiving Turkey Trot held at Meadow Park on Thanksgiving Day, is designed primarily as a family event. Turkey Trots are a popular hallmark-event in many communities across the nation typically having a light and festive atmosphere for attendees. In anticipation of indulgent Thanksgiving feasts we run in turkey trots to burn off calories before the big meal. First prize for winning is an actual turkey that the winners can use for his or her family's Thanksgiving feast. The Big Bear Turkey Trot has 3 race distances 3, 6, and 9 miles and registrants are encouraged to dress-up in costumes, either turkeys or bears, creating a fun and festive event. There is also a Pie Eating Contest! The family friendly event is the perfect start to Thanksgiving Day, bringing together members and visitors of the community for a fun and festive happening in Big Bear Lake.

Runners can expect a slightly rolling course through the scenic neighborhood of Eagle Point and a fun start and finish at Meadow Park.
