Big Bear Activities for Summertime Recreation

Enjoy California's Freshwater Lake with Boating, Waverunners, Wakeboarding, Parasailing and Trout Fishing, or Explore the Back Country on Big Bear Hiking Trails, Mountain Biking, Off Road Adventures and More

Summer in Big Bear means time to get on the lake and have fun!!! The days are longer, which gives you more time to enjoy the vast outdoor activities Big Bear has to offer.

Big Bear Jetskiing
The lake is loaded with all kinds of aquatic sports. Bring your own boat or select from a diverse array of watercraft rentals to fit your desired activity for fun on the lake. Enjoy a peaceful cruise along the lake in a pontoon boat or glide across the water on a Catamaran sailboat. For the more adventurous hit the throttle on a jet ski or speed boat and skim the wakes. Speaking of wakes, Big Bear Lake has licensed operators who provide top notch service for wakeboarding and water skiing for all skill levels from the first timer to the advanced expert.

Big Bear Kayaking
Kayaking on the north shore is a great way to get up close and personal with nature. Paddlers can explore the shoreline and hidden coves that most boats cannot get to. Whether it's a canoe, kayak, pedal boat or paddle board, non-motorized watercrafts provide opportunities to see the lake from unique vantage points, but also they provide a great way to get exercise while having fun.

If you're looking for something a little more extraordinary take flight over the lake in a parasail and get a bird's eye view of the lake. Flyers will go out about 600 feet and reach an altitude of 300 feet off the water.

Another great way to get your feet of the ground and flying through the air is zip lining, Big Bear's latest vacation craze. Participants get their wings with the help of a harness, a pulley and lots of zip line for a thrilling flight through pine trees and over mountainous canyons.

Big Bear's majestic mountains and pristine wilderness will take your breath away as you delve into another world where time stands still. Let your inner soul feel the energy of the beauty and natural surroundings.

Big Bear Mountain Biking
This summer explore Southern California's "last frontier" by foot, mountain bike or horseback. Big Bear Trails are abundant in the San Bernardino National Forest, most notable being the Pacific Crest Trail. The trails in the Big Bear region offer expansive views of the forest, wildlife and valley floor. Most trailheads are easily accessible and lead hikers to summits with outstanding panoramic views. A visit to the Big Bear Lake Visitor Center or the Big Bear Discovery Center provides hikers with every resource to plan a full day of hiking and picnicking.

Big Bear Marinas, Boating & Water Sports
Summertime is a great a time to drop a line in the lake and just relax. Let the rod and reel do all the work as you sip a cold beverage and wait for fish to nibble on the bait. Reel in the big one or catch some pan fish with the kids. Fishing in Big Bear Lake has become a family tradition where grandpa once caught his first fish. It's also a great for getting away with just the guys and seeing who can bring in the most fish. You can throw just about anything in your tackle box at the fish and they will bite! If you really want to get a handle on where the fish are biting take a guided fishing charter. If you just want to relax and take in the beauty of Big Bear Lake you might want to rent a pontoon boat or take a tour on one of Big Bear's tour boats.

Whatever your choice might be for summer recreation in Big Bear, one thing for certain is you will have plenty of fun.
